MFA Member David Diaz

David has a solo exhibit at Longwood Art Gallery. The show runs from Nov 6th through Nov 28th with a reception on Nov 6th, 6:00PM to 9:00PM.

MFA Member Michael Hower

Michael has a show coming up called Legend at the Fitton Center (101 5 Monument Ave, Hamilton OH, 43011). The show runs from Nov 14th through Jan 8th with a reception on Nov 14th, 5:00PM to 7:00 PM.

MFA Member Maurice Margulies

Maurice is Exhibiting at Aromatic 2015 (8100 Corporate Drive Hyattsville, MD) along with a bunch of other MFA members. The show is open from Oct 30th through Dec 12th, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5:00PM to 10:00PM and Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 11:00AM to 12:00 AM, midnight.

MFA Member Jack Knight

Jack was recently selected into the two year cycle of Professional Artist Membership at Main Line Art. Congratulations Jack!

MFA Member Richard Hall

Richard has a show coming up with the theme Rural Images at the Kent County Library in Chestertown (408 High St in historic Chestertown, MD). The show runs from Nov 3rd through Nov 30th with a reception on Nov 4th, 5:00PM to 7:00PM.

MFA Member Anna Fine Foer

Anna has s newly open show titled With Silence Comes Peace with a few other local artists at Goucher College (Baltimore Beltway, I-695, to exit 27A. Make the first left onto campus). The show runs from Oct 27th through Dec 6th with a reception on November 20th, 6:00PM to 9:00PM.

A unique feature of her show is a free one-hour weekly meditation class given by Charm City Yoga on Nov 1st, Nov 3rd, Nov 12th, and Dec 1st, all from 3:00PM to 4:00PM.

Mary Ellen and Jayne are very pleased to be included in The Artists Eye at Benfield Gallery. The show runs from Oct 24th to Nov 21st.

MFA Members Michelle Guillermin, Lisa Rath and Sheila Guevin

Michelle, Lisa, and Sheila are all exhibiting collections of their work at Artomatic 2015. The Artomatic exhibit has taken over the entire building at 8100 Corprate Drive, Hyattsville, MD, just a short walk from the New Carrollton metro station. Over 600 artists are participating, including visual, creative and performing art. The show runs from Oct 30th through Dec 12th with a reception on Nov 14th. For more information, click here!

MFA member Vince Lupo

Vince has a show up called Mapping the West, at Full Circle Gallery, 33 E. 21st Street, Baltimore, MD 21218. The show runs from Oct 10th through Nov 21st with a reception on Oct 25th from 2:00 to 5:00 PM.

MFA Members Kellee Conrad, Carol Donahue, and Watson

Kellee, Carol, and Watson are all being show in the Nine Squares exhibition, the first all abstract art exhibit hosted by (WAAW). The exhibit features 9 local artists as they explore geometrical shape and form in all mediums. The show runs from Oct 1st through Nov 14th at West Annapolis Art Works & Fine Framing, 4 Annapolis Street, Annapolis MD 21401.

MFA Member Wil Scott

Wil has a few shows coming up:

Curvilinear, Darkroom Gallery, Essex Junction, VT, Oct. 15-Nov. 11, “Tendrils.”

A/asymmetry, PH21 Gallery, Budapest, Hungary, “4 Crates, 2 Chairs, 4 Umbrellas, 2 Cans” (2015) and “New England Geometry” (2015).

MFA Member Steve Bleinberger

Steve is teaching a workshop, organized by the Annapolis Watercolor Club, on Nov 21st from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM at the Annapolis evangelical Presbyterian Church (710 Ridgely Rd, Annapolis MD 21401). The workshop is $50 for Watercolor Club members and $60 for non-members. Contact or 410-693-7503 with questions or to register.

MFA Member Annie Tsai

Annie has two exhibitions coming up: her first one is called Black Forest Photography Exhibition, a two day show expressing the mystical and zen moments of this beloved San Francisco trail, Nov 7th and 8th from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the PublicWorks – Roll Up Gallery, 161 Erie Street, San Francisco, CA.

Her second show is called Studio Nocturne – 2015 SF Open Studio Exhibition. Starts Nov 24th through the 25th from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Fort Mason Herbst Pavilion.

MFA Member Warren Kornberg

Warren will be mounting an exhibit from Nov 22nd to Dec 24th at the Penn Place Art Gallery, Garrett Park, MD 20896.  On exhibit will be some 15 or so black and white photographs, many of which have never been shown before.

MFA Member Peter Martin

Peter’s on going 36 Frames Project is on its 22nd photographer! The project is expected to take another 18 months to 2 years to complete. Keep up to date with Peters progress on his website here!

MFA Member Deborah Kommalan

Deborah Kommalan is planning to attend a painting workshop in Wilkes-Barre, PA.  April 2nd and 3rd, 2016. It will be held at the Ani Academy. The topic is “Perception and the Practical Painter.” She has attended a workshop in the past and can answer your questions. She would like to share travel and hotel expenses. MFA Member Elaine Weiner-Reed

Elaine’s painting, Primal Scream, was acquired by the Southern Nevada Museum of Fine Art as part of their Permanent Collection (Gallery 10). Another of her pieces, Mirror, Mirror, was selected as a winner in ARTslant’s International 4th Showcase.

Elaine’s paintings Static Electricity and Curtain Call were also curated into the following three exhibitions from 17 October through end-November 2015:  First, The ARTitude Gallery, Paris; then, Carousel du Louvre, Paris; and finally Saphira&Ventura Gallery, 4 W 43rd St., New York City.

MFA Member Lee Goodwin

Lee’s photographs will be on display in several MD and DC shows. Three of Lee’s photographs will be in the Be the Voice exhibit at the Gallery at Iona from Sep 16th to Nov 1st.

Additionally, 20 photographs from his Chesapeake Bay – Endangered Landscape series are on permanent display in the Maryland House of Delegates Office Building in Annapolis in the Environment and Transportation Committee Hearing Room and the offices and conference rooms of the Appropriations Committee.

MFA Member Sheila White Guevin

Photographer Sheila White Guevin had three pieces selected for the Anne Arundel Arts Council exhibit Reflections showing till Nov 15th at BWI . The exhibit is located in Departures between Concourses C&D. Bring your parking ticket for validation. Juror for this exhibit was MFA member Wil Scott.

Richard has a solo invitational exhibition called Unique Visions at the Montpelier Arts Center Library Gallery, Laurel, MD from September 11 to November 1.

MD State Arts Council: Marketplace

In advance of launching the Maryland Artist Registry and Marketplace, its to be noted that the terms and conditions have been updated. You will need to approve these as soon as possible as the site launches Nov 2nd.

For those that don’t know, the Marketplace provides an online space for artists to put out images and links to their art, including books, music, and visual art. If you have questions, email Paul Shortt, Registry Coordinator, here!

Updates: Caritas Society of St. John’s Inc 

Caritas Society of St. John’s Inc will hold a fundraising event on Nov 8th that will include the screening Chagall, a 1963 Academy award winning movie voiced by Vincent Price and host Stanley Meisler, the author of Shocking Paris, Soutine, Chagall and the Outsiders of Montparnasse who will speak about his book.  Afterwards there will be a book signing and wine reception. Tickets are $20 before hand and $25 at the door. A lecture will also be offered to the public given by Christopher With, educator (retired), National Gallery of Art, on “Time is a River without Banks: Marc Chagall and Book Illustrations, 1925-1930” in the Conversation Room on Nov 4th at 5:30PM.

The event will be held at St. Johns College Francis Scott Key auditorium, doors open at 2.  Tickets may be purchased by sent check to Caritas at 60 College Avenue, Annapolis Maryland, 21401 or online at

Erase Hate Through Art

The Erase Hate Through Art exhibit is open from Oct 1st through the 25th at the Columbia Art Center, 6100 Foreland Garth, Columbia, Maryland.

See the art of 47 artists as we examine hate crimes and bullying, raise awareness, and help fight hatred. Hear poets and story tellers share their original verse. Proceeds from sales will be shared equally between artist, the Matthew Shepard Foundation, and Erase Hate Through Art.

Benfield Gallery Juried Show

Benfield is hosting their fifth Fall Juried Show, entitled The Artistic Eye. The exhibition opens Oct 24th and continues to Nov 21st.

Call for Artists: 2015 Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival

The Maryland Sheep Breeders Association would like to announce the 2016 Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival Cover Art Competition, featuring a grand prize of $1000 and up to four $100 honorary mention awards. The deadline for submissions is Nov 1st, 2015. For rules and more information check out their website at
