Richard has a solo show at the Crofton Library during the month of April. The exhibition will feature his sculpture series from Alice in Wonderland.

MFA Member Carolyn Councell

Carolyn was recently named the Featured Artist at Le Hatchery (125 Kemp Lane, Easton, MD  21601). The show runs from April 1st through the 28th.

MFA Member Alex Tolstoy

Alex has a solo show called “Watermarks” at the Alexandria Art League/Torpedo Factory. The show opens June 8th and runs through July 3rd with a reception on June 9th, 6:30PM to 8:00PM.

Alex was recently awarded an honorable mention from CHAL for her show Appetite for Art. The show runs from Mar 5th through April 15th at the CHAW gallery. She also received an honorable mention by the Art League of Alexandria for her artwork at the Torpedo Factory.

MFA Member Terry Peterson

Terry has a show coming up called Barnyard at the Garden Gallery, the Galleries at Quiet Park, Annapolis. It opens on April 6th with a reception on April 10th, 2:00PM to 4:00PM.

MFA Member Anna Fine Foer

Anna would like to invite you all to an opening reception for a group exhibition she participated in called Nowhere Everywhere Now Here about Utopia and Dystopia at the Thompson Gallery, Cambridge School of Weston Mass. The show runs from April 1st through June 18th.

She would also like to announce her solo exhibition called Physiography: A Sense of Place at the Black Rock Art Center from April 1st through May 1st. There will be a reception with free hands-on collage activities on April 10th from 1:00PM to 4:00PM.

Wil’s piece “Jumbo” will hang in the Center For the Fine Arts Photography in Fort Collins, CO from June 17th through July 23rd.

His piece “Midsummer Dream”, which was recently awarded an honorable mention the Art League of Alexandria, was juried into Water at the Southeast Center for Photography in Greenville, SC. That show runs from May 6th through the 31st.

“Naval Academy Bridge” will be shown in All That Art at the Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts. The show runs from April 18th through the 29th.

Two of Mary’s pieces have been juried into Art at the Mill in the historic Burwell-Morgan Mill in Millwood, VA (32 East Main Street, Berryville, Virginia  22611). The show opens April 23rd and runs through May 8th with a reception on May 1st, 4:00PM to 6:00PM.

MFA Member Gail Sims

Gail’s piece, the “San Juan River”, has been accepted into Water is Life- Clean Water and its Impact on the Lives of Women and Girls Around the World, which opens in March at the Palais des Nations, Geneva, Switzerland. This show will travel next to the US Embassy in Rome, Italy in October, and then on to the New England Quilt Museum, Lowell, Massachusetts in Feb, 2017.

Save the date for her solo show, Revealing Layers, opening reception on May 14th at the Bernice Kish Gallery at Slayton House in Columbia, MD.

Elaine will be holding a three in one event, Revealing Layers solo exhibition, gallery talk, and “Every Painting is a Song” competition launching in May 2016. Opening reception is Saturday May 14 from 2-4pm at the Bernice Kish Gallery, Slayton House, Columbia.

MFA Member Richard Niewerth

Free Workshop: Mind Your Business

Maryland Citizens for the Arts is holding a free workshop to help the creative class better navigate budgets, cash flow, copyright, insurance, and more. The workshop is on April 28 from 1-4:30 pm at the College of Southern MD, Leonardtown campus (building A, room 206). Space is limited so RSVP ASAP to or 410-467-6700.

Plein Air Workshop

The Laurel Art Guild is hosting a plein air workshop conducted by Steve Fleming on the grounds of the Montpelier Arts Center during the annual Festival of Herbs, Teas, and the Arts on Saturday, April 30. To sign up for this free workshop, contact Carol Leo at

Seeking artists to staff a craft table

The Cornell Club of MD, Alumni chapter, is seeking artists to run a children’s art activity for a craft table at their next event in June. Approximately 20-30 children in attendance will be ages 5-12. The event is the Mid-Atlantic Crab Feast and will be held June 26th in Centerville, MD from 1-4pm. Studio Space For Rent!

Chuck Walsh is renting out the space that used to house Art Farm at 47 Spa Road, Annapolis MD in the Annapolis Arts District. Its a 1427 sq. ft space that can be shared by two or three tenants. For more information, read Chucks Craigslist ad here!

Photoshop Workshops

There are two Photoshop workshops, one for beginners and another for people to sharpen their skills, both at Anne Arundel Community College.

The beginner class teaches all the basics of modifying images, from retouching to color corrections. The three sessions start April 9th and run through the 23rd, from 8:30AM to 12:45PM.

The level 2 class teaches more advanced students how to accomplish master image effects, including faded textures and illuminations, and how to manage work more efficiently. Prerequisite of CTT 338 Adobe Photoshop-Level 1. There will be three sessions starting Apr 30th and run through May 14th, all start at 8:30AM – 12:45PM on the AACC main campus.

Figure Sculpture Co-op at MD Hall

Whether you are interested in traditional or abstract figurative sculpture, join the Figure Sculpture Co-op.  The Co-op provides members with an opportunity to work in a relaxed and collegial environment with a professional figure model using the sculptures medium of choice.

Models return to their pose for three to five weeks allowing artists to progress towards completion of a single piece or to work on several maquettes. Attendees work with their own materials and tools. No critique or instruction is provided. New to sculpture, returning after a long break, or a working artist; all levels are welcome.
