As we count down to Paint Annapolis 2016, MFA will be featuring diffrent artists of the day to let you learn more about the people who are competing and exhibiting in Paint Annapolis.

Katie Dobson Cundiff

With a love of the outdoors and a passion for painting,Katie became a fan of plein air landscape painting while a student at Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. Upon graduating in 1971, Katie her husband started a decorative accessory design business, and by the 80’s their business included national wholesale representation selling to stores including Marshall Fields & Co., Macy’s, and Sacs Fifth Avenue.

A Trip to the Guatemala Rain Forest in 1994 lured her back into painting the landscape. In 2004 she entered her first plein air competition. Since, she has traveled throughout the US, South America, and Europe receiving numerous awards and recognition in plein air events and festivals.

Katie is a member and has exhibited with a number of organizations, such as the Oil Painters of America, American Women Artists, Women Painters of the Southeast, and the Maryland Federation of Arts. Katie was the winner of Paint Annapolis 2015 (piece featured to the right).

Currently, Katie resides in Sarasota, Florida with her husband. She conducts plein air and studio workshops and is on the faculty of Ringling College of Art and Design.
