MFA Member Jan Kirsh

Jan’s solo exhibit Ripe! Fruit and Vegetable Perspectives will feature a hand-picked sculpture selection that captures the breadth of Krish’s work and the freedom afforded by digital technology in the creation of scalable art in various shapes, sizes and materials. The show runs from Sept 10th through Oct 29th at the Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts (801 Chase St, Annapolis, MD 21401) with a public opening reception on Sept 15th from 5:30 to 7:00PM.

“Pomegranate Halves” by Jan Kirsh

Two of Jan’s sculptures, “Onion” and “Habanero”, will be apart of Cartes Blanches presented by The Washington Sculptors Group (WSG) and The Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center (DVAEC). The show will be held at the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center (40 South Carroll Street Frederick, MD 21701). The show opens on June 25th and runs through July 30th with a reception on July 2nd from 3:00 to 5:00PM. For more information visit www.delaplaine.org

Several of her fruit and vegetable sculptures have been chosen for a yearlong public display for the Howard CountyArt Council’s ARTsites exhibition. From Aug 1st 2016 through July 31st 2017, her “Pear” will sit in the Howard County gov’s George Howard Building (3430 Court House Dr #100, Ellicott City, MD 21043) and “Patricias Carrots” will be displayed in front of the Howard County Tourism’s Welcome Center (8267 Main St, Ellicott City, MD 21043).

MFA Member Joan Owings

Joan was recently juried into the Falls Church ArtSpace exhibit “Line Upon Line” (410 South Maple Avenue, Falls Church. VA). The show runs from June 9th through July 11, 2016.

MFA Member Alexis Rotella

Alexis has created a variety of engaging pieces ranging from surreal, quirky renditions of Annapolis and Eastport scenes, people transforming into animals, portraits, and traditional florals all from her iPad. The iPad Art Exhibit starts July 3rd at 49 West Coffeehouse and Wine bar (49 West Street, Annapolis MD) with a reception from 5:30 to 7:00PM and runs through the entire month of July.

Mary’s piece “High School Reunion” has been included in a new book called CP Treasures- Colored Pencil Masterworks from Around the Globe Vol IV. It’s published and available through AnnKulberg.com

MFA Member Richard Paul Weiblinger

Richard has three photos in an exhibition with the Biggs Museum of American Art in Dover, Delaware. The show runs from June 3rd through Sep 25th.

Richard had his photograph “Convoy” selected for an exhibition Alphabet at A Smith Gallery, in Johnson City, Texas which runs from July 1st through August 7th.

MFA Members c. l. bigelow and Kass McGowan

MFA April Rimpo

MFA Member Jayne Shatz and Chris Kelsey

Jayne has a sculpture exhibit coming up at Paul’s Homewood Cafe (919 West St., Annapolis, MD 21401). She will be exhibiting alongside Chris Kelsey’s encaustic collages. The show runs from June 6th through July 31st .

Mary’s colored pencil piece “Making a Move on the Utz Girl” has been juried into the Colored Pencil Society of America 24th Annual International Exhibition at the American Art Company (1126 Broadway Plaza, Takoma, Washington). The show starts June 25th and runs through August 13th.

MFA Member Desiree Scherini

Desiree is now represented at Whitehall Gallery (57 West St., Annapolis MD 21401). She has several pieces up as well as note cards and prints.

Desiree is taking part in a plein air exhibition at Ken Karlic’s new gallery (102 Main Street, Bel Air MD, 21014). The show will be on display from May 6th through June 30th.

Carol has a show coming up in NYC called Dynamic Visions, featuring her work in oil and acrylic. Alex has a solo show called “Watermarks” at the Alexandria Art League/Torpedo Factory. The show opens June 8th and runs through July 3rd.

MFA Member Gail Sims

Gail’s piece, the “San Juan River”, has been accepted into Water is Life- Clean Water and its Impact on the Lives of Women and Girls Around the World, which opens in March at the Palais des Nations, Geneva, Switzerland. This show will travel next to the US Embassy in Rome, Italy in October, and then on to the New England Quilt Museum, Lowell, Massachusetts in Feb, 2017.

Guidelines and applications are now available through the the MSAC website here for the 2017 MD State Arts Council Individual Artist Awards.

All applications must be submitted online; the MSAC and the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation have aceduled several webinars to assist artists with the application process.

Residency Program Digital Approaches: Sculpture, Fiber Art, Painting & New Media

Digital Fabrication Residency program residents learn and gain hands-on experience with laser cutting, CNC routing, FDM 3D printing, digital embroidery, 2D plotting and 3D scanning. Applications for the 3 Day Onsite Residency Program must include a project proposal that outlines what the resident plans to work on while onsite. Residents are responsible for arranging their own accommodations, travel expenses, meals and if projects require materials outside of those provided.

Twoonline planning meetings prior to residency for file preparation and project ideation. This is a highly individualized opportunity to develop and work through ideas on the machines and utilizing a private studio. There are basic materials supplied and residents can send materials ahead of onsite visit. See website for residency participation details. No application fee.
