Sarah will be giving a lecture on the many tips and tricks artists can use to improve the quality of their outdoor images. She will be giving a lecture on garden photography this Sunday, April 23rd, from 2-4pm at Waverly Street Gallery (4600 East-West Highway in Bethesda). The entrance to the gallery faces Waverly St., and there is plenty of free parking in the garage next door. American Plant will be there to give a few spring gardening tips, and Bethesda Chocolates will be giving samples of their amazing chocolates.

April has work in three national watercolor shows coming up. Currently her painting “The Orator” is on exhibit at The Watercolor Art Society of Houston‘s 40th Annual International Water Media Exhibition, which runs through April 6th. “Women with a Wrapped Hat” is included in The Missouri Watercolor Society’s International Juried & Judged Exhibition through April 27th. During May “Fresh Fruit to Go” is in The Louisiana Watercolor Society‘s 47th International Exhibition. In addition April’s painting “Movement” is included in the 8th Annual ISAP Online International Open Show 2017.
MFA Members in The Mitchell Art Gallery “Image and Imagination”: Andree Tullier, Chris Kelsey, Kathleen Ryan Gardiner
The Mitchell Art Gallery’s Community show features artists only from Anne Arundel County; the exhibit runs from May 23rd through June 11, during the Annapolis Arts and Wine Festival, with a reception on May 23rd.
Members Chris Kelsey’s encaustic collage “Horse and Rider” was selected for the show, Andrée Tullier’s life-size pastel portrait“Young Girl”, and Kathleen Ryan Gardiner’s piece “Racing the Storm” have all been selected for the show.

MFA Member Megan Burak
Megan was awarded Best In Show at the Art League of Ocean City’s juried “Corporate Partners Show” for her oil painting entitled “Laundry Day”. The show is on display until May 1st.
She was selected as a Semi-Finalist for this years Bethesda Painting Awards. Congrats, Megan!
She was also awarded 1st Place at the Worcester County Arts Council’s juried show “Artist’s Choice” for her oil painting entitled “You’re So Damaged”. The show will be on display until April 30th.
She will also be featured in the “Delmarva School of Art” book published by Moonshell Productions, along with MFA Member Jack Knight.
MFA Member Linda Agar-Hendrix
Linda has a piece in the Washinton Sculptor’s show, Sculpture REMIX, at the Popcorn Gallery in Glen Echo (7300 MacArthur Blvd), which runs until April 30th.

Carole was accepted into the Mitchell Gallery show, “Image and Imagination.” The show runs from May 23rd to June 11th.
MFA Member Richard Paul Weiblinger
Richard is pleased to say that his piece “Healing Hands” has won first place at the Columbia Arts Center’s 8th Annual Blossoms of Hope (6100 Foreland Garth, Columbia, MD 21045). The show runs through April 23rd.
Richard had three images selected for the Arte Di Primavera juried exhibition at The Arts Barn Gallery (311 Kent Square Rd, Gaithersburg, MD 20878) which goes through May 1st.
Richard has his photograph selected for the Allegany National Photography Exhibition, which runs from April 7th through the 29th.

Joan has a new show up at The Gallery in the Woods (145 Main St, Brattleboro, VT 05301) which runs until April 23rd.
MFA Member Anne Sieling
Anne Sieling’s art was featured as part of a show of Hai Ou Hou’s students at the Crystal Moll Gallery in Baltimore. She will be included in the next Crystal Moll show entitled Still and Life, running from May 3 to June 23. The Gallery is located at 1030 South Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21230.

MFA Member and Paint Annapolis 2017 Artist Ken Karlic, Stewart White
Ken and Stewart are both a part of “The Landscape Show” now open at Y:ART in Baltimore (3402 Gough St, Baltimore, MD 21224). The show runs through May 6th and features the art of two upcoming Paint Annapolis juried artists.
The Landscape Show showcases the peacefully captivating work of five accomplished artists; all of whom finding joy in one of history’s oldest art forms. From nature to cityscape, watercolor to oil, traditional to contemporary, all of the artists distinctly exhibit their expertise. Collectively, the group forms a notable body of work that is sure to provide a fresh and unique perspective on the traditional art of landscape painting.
MFA Member Jayne Shatz
Jayne is pleased to announce that applications for her July workshop, “The Slab Machine & The Extruder: Hand Built Pottery Two Ways”, are now open!
This workshop focuses on hand built pottery made with two different studio machines- the slab roller and the extruder. In the morning, you will learn to use the slab rolling machine and molds. In the afternoon, you’ll work with the extruder to create free-form hand built pottery. Participants will practice using these machines for proper clay manipulation.

Wil was featured in What’s Up as a part of a collection called “East of the Bay Bridge” which runs from March through June.
He was also juried into the Allegany National Photography Competition at the Allegany Arts Council (9 N Centre St, Cumberland, MD 21502). The show was juried by Shannon Thomas Perch, Curator of Photographic History, Smithsonian National Museum of American History.
MFA Member Lee Goodwin
Photos from Lee’s Endangered Landscape series are now on permanent display in the Maryland House of Delegates Office Building in Annapolis, MD, in the Environment and Transportation Committee Hearing Room, and in the offices and conference rooms of the Appropriations Committee. Bring a government issued ID to see them!
Lee also is a part of the Chestertown River Arts, Chestertown, Md., Art of Stewardship multimedia group exhibit, which runs from April 7th through the 26th.
MFA Member Maurice Margulies
Maurice has an exhibition of paintings and etchings up now at the Glenview Mansion (room 6) at the Rockville Civic Center (603 Edmonston Dr, Rockville, MD 20851). The show runs from now through May 11th.
MFA Member Jack Knight
Jack is being featured in a new book titled “Delmarva School of Art” which will include over 100 artists from the Delmarva region and will be published this summer by Moonshell Productions.
MFA Member and former president Clarence Carvell
Clarence has a show up at the Quiet Waters Gallery (600 Quiet Waters Park Rd, Annapolis, MD 21403) along with William Collins. Their show is called Cuba… A New Beginning featuring 60+ images of people, places, performers, and politics in Cuba. The show opens April 5th and runs through May 21st.
DEADLINE: 8th Annual FOTA Art Scholarships
Friends of the Arts (FOTA), Annapolis, Maryland, is pleased to offer two scholarships of $2,500 each for the academic year 2017-2018 to art students permanently residing in Anne Arundel County. Qualified applicants must attend an accredited college.
