ArtWalk’s Crosswalks, a tactical urbanism project led and coordinated by ArtWalk and Art at Large, Inc., is almost finished and can be viewed on foot or by car on West Street and Amos Garrett Blvd (by Park Place). With input and assistance from the faculty and students of Studio 39, the crosswalks were designed, stenciled and painted between the stripes. The three sidewalk 10′ diameter art circles on the corners were painted by MFA Member Patrice Drago, local artist Charles Lawrance of FinArt, and the third will be painted by Sally Wern Comport of Art At Large. This project was designed to bring visibility to a heavily trafficked intersection, reminding people to slow down and stop for pedestrians, as well as announce to all that they are now entering the Annapolis Arts District.
