Todays Topic: Mastering Memes

What is a meme?

1: an idea, behavior, style, or usage that spreads from person to person within a culture
2: an amusing or interesting item (such as a captioned picture or video) or genre of items that is spread widely online especially through social media

So why meme with art?

Memes get circulated around the internet like crazy.
If you want to get your piece known by a large audience, this is the way to do it.
Also, it’s fun and will show people your lighter side.

How does one meme?

Let’s take this piece titled Splash by Sheila White Guevin (below).

The easiest way to meme is to do “When” Memes. So the picture below could have the message next to it:

When girls in commercials wash their faces.

Again, using the “When” meme will work in most scenarios.

Another use could be from this artwork Simplicity by Amelia Arria:

When they call you a good-boy.

The important word in Social Media is the word Social, so as long as your contributing to the conversation and not stopping it, you have a good chance at getting your work farther out there.
