MFA Member April Rimpo

Each year the International Society of Acrylic Painters holds an Online Exhibition to which all ISAP Members can apply. Britt Freda was the juror of selection and awards and had the difficult task of selecting this diverse show of excellent work. 71 paintings were accepted out of 188. 12 paintings were selected for awards. Fun with Fluid Acrylics Class: All levels welcome. New evening class on Mondays from 7 – 9pm. Feb 11 – March 11; no class on Feb 18. Learn textural techniques using fluid acrylic and mixed media approaches. Augment your paintings with patterns. Explore great color combinations and learn how to convert your favorite watercolor paint into fluid acrylic. Paints and acrylic mediums included in the tuition. MFA Member Lee Goodwin

Goodwin’s photograph “Annapolis Harbor, September Morning” will be included in the Maryland Federation of Art’s “Winter Member’s Exhibit” at the Circle Gallery on State Circle in Annapolis. Jan 4 – Jan 20.

Goodwin’s photograph “Annapolis Harbor, October Morning” will be included in the Maryland Federation of Art’s “Lowe House Exhibition 2019”, which will be on display in the Maryland House of Delegates’ Lowe House Office Building in Annapolis during the House of Delegates’ 2019 legislative session. While you are there, you can check out Goodwin’s other photos that are on permanent display in the Lowe Building, in the Environment and Transportation Committee Hearing Room, and the offices of the Appropriations Committee. Jan 16 – April 13.

Goodwin’s photograph “National Harbor, September Evening” (above) will be included in the Maryland Federation of Art’s “Focal Point” exhibit at the Circle Gallery on State Circle in Annapolis. Jan 24 – Feb 23.

MFA Member Jayne Shatz

Hello Pottery Enthusiasts! Shatz has fired her last glaze kiln for pottery and sculpture. She has retired from pottery making and selling but is continuing on with sculpture in both clay and paper mache, as well as acrylic painting. So when one window closes, another opens!

A juried exhibition, Perturbation, Conn has his work “I Don’t Matter” accepted into. Event Dates: 2/4/19 – 3/1/19 Opening Reception: Feb 4 from 4-7pm. This event is at 2300 S. Washington Street Campus Art Gallery Kokomo, IN 46904-9003.

MFA Member Jim Mackey

Mackey has been working on a One Man Show titled, “Who’s Reality” at Shippensburg University Ezra Lehman Memorial Library (Shippensburg, PA 17257), up until the end of Jan 2019.

MFA Member Sally Davies

Davies paintings “Point of View: Paintings by Sally Davies” are at the Heritage Center Gallery at the Pyramid Atlantic Arts Center, Hyattsville (across from Franklin’s Restaurant).  The exhibit is up currently and will be on display till the end of Feb 2019 with the Artist Reception on Jan 6, 2-4 pm.

MFA Member John T. Hanou

Hanou has been selected as a finalist for Outdoor Photography magazine’s 10th Annual Nature’s Colors photo contest for their photo, “Moonrise at Jumbo Rocks”. For those who are not familiar with the magazine, OP is one of the premier photography magazines in the country.
“As a finalist, I may have my photo featured on their website as a finalist, and winner or not, as a finalist my work will be published in a Bayphoto hard-cover book. So, wish me luck!”

MFA Member Deborah Kommalan

In the latest issue of What’s Up? Annapolis magazine is a short interview about the show at their offices in September.  The photo of her painting is easily twice the size of the original!

This photo may give you a better idea of the actual sizes of the three small paintings.  Each is 3.25″ square. Voted runner-up for People’s Choice.

MFA Member Anne Sieling

Anne has been awarded a “Worthy of Note” certificate for her oil “Tea and Lemons” by the Bauhaus Prairie Art Gallery September show, “Still Life.” She also has two paintings, “Horizons”, an oil, and “Barn and Beyond, a pastel,”  in the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County’s BWI show, “Space & Place”.

MFA Member Gayle Mangan Kassal

The BWI art gallery features works by artists from around the region; Maryland First Lady Yumi Hogan chaired the jury panel that selected the various artworks. Kassal’s piece “River Dance” was selected!  This pastel painting which is 39″ x 89”, was enlarged to 8 feet square. Located in Gallery D, between the D and E terminals, it is behind security. It is now up and will be hanging from July until December, then again on a rotating schedule with other works.

MFA Member Richard Paul Weiblinger 

Weiblinger has been juried into Light and Shadow, an online exhibition at Maryland Federation of Art, Dec 15 – Jan 30, 2019.

Weiblinger was also juried into Hill Center Galleries Juried Exhibition. Juror for this exhibition was Caitlin Berry, Fine Arts Dealer and Associate Director at Hemphill Fine Arts in Washington, DC who made her selection from over 600 submitted pieces from 130 artist. Exhibition Dates are Jan 10 through Mar 3. Opening reception with the Juror on Jan 16 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM. For more information, click here.

MFA Member Christopher Fowler

Fowler’s piece “Without Flash” was accepted in the show “Use Other Door” which is being held at CORE Contemporary, 900 E Karen Avenue, Suite D222, in Las Vegas, NV. Reception Jan 11 6:00-8:00 PM; the show closes Mar 16.
