Cynthia Rosen is a Vermont painter recently returned from a three month trip
painting around the USA. Trained at the Boston Museum School her inclination is
to combine her earlier interest in non-objective work with her particular passion for
plein air painting. While some consider her work to fall on the side of abstraction,
Cynthia refers to her work as contemporary impressionism.
“Painting plein air provides the sights, sounds, and limitless color that both engage
and challenge me. No sooner do I embark on a path than the twists in the road
bring new inspirations into my field of vision. My visual vocabulary, based on
sights seen, is broadened every step of the way with no end in sight to the
excitement of ever-changing light and the sound of bustling life. Finding my own
means of expression to reflect on the ephemeral nature of our ever-changing

Before taking a hiatus to raise her family and teach, Cynthia primarily sold work
through galleries in NYC and Philadelphia. She has recently returned to her art
career with a focus on plein air, quickly gaining public and national recognition
through invitationals, admission to juried events and shows, awards and gallery
invites. She has recently been featured in Plein Air Magazine and American Art
