The Artists’ Gallery of Ellicott City invites visual artists to submit original work for a juried show to hang January 14 – February 23, 2020. Artists 18 or older living or working in the Maryland, DC, and Virginia area are eligible to apply.  All selected work must be hand delivered.  The Artists’ Gallery will not accept any mailed or shipped art.

ArtCenter Manatee announces a call for artists for the Fine Arts Festival of Manatee County 2020, a juried two-day outdoor festival that takes place in Downtown Bradenton at the beautiful Riverwalk Park on the Manatee River. The show features local, regional, and national award-winning artists, as well as artist demos, shopping, music, and food vendors with seating. The festival attracts art lovers of all kinds. Admission and parking are free and open to the public. The proceeds of the festival benefit ArtCenter Manatee’s Education programs.

Join the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame as they prepare for their 2nd annual Photo Finish exhibition, debuting in von Stade Gallery in July 2020!

 The Museum is pleased to announce the call for submissions for our annual juried photography exhibition. Photo Finish will showcase work submitted by amateur and professional photographers that relates to the sport of Thoroughbred racing in America. Photographs do not have to be a racing action scene; it is up to the photographer to interpret the theme and be as creative as possible! Interested photographers can submit up to two photographs for consideration, and additional entry details are listed on the application form. A panel of judges representing both the racing and arts communities will select the photographs for the inaugural exhibition. Up to 45 photographs will be featured in the von Stade Gallery, and additional photographs may be selected for inclusion in our online exhibition.

The Howard County Arts Council (HCAC) manages two galleries at the Howard County Center for the Arts with over 21,000 square feet of exhibit space. The HCAC gallery program was established to enhance the public’s appreciation of the visual arts, provide a venue to exhibit the work of local, regional, and national artists in a professional space, and provide leadership in the arts by presenting a broad spectrum of arts in all media from both emerging and established artists.

HCAC presents 11-12 exhibits per year of national, regional, and local artists, including two-person, small and large group, juried, curated, and community shows. HCAC rarely exhibits solo shows.

Artists ages 18 and older working in all media and styles are encouraged to apply, including time-based and installation artists. Exhibited work must fit through a doorway measuring 54” x 80” and be able to be installed appropriately in the Arts Council gallery.

General Guidelines & Information

  • Only 2-D works will be accepted for reproduction – painting, photography, mixed media or similar are welcomed

  • All works must be no less than 8X10” and no more than 24X20”

  • All reproductions will receive a “seal” noting the Maryland Municipal League as the publisher

  • MML will cover fees associated with reproduction

  • Artist agrees to use of artwork for press and promotional purposes related to this project

  • Artist will remain the owner of image copyright

  • Artist is invited to attend a Maryland Municipal League conference (either summer or fall) within a year of the artwork’s release

    • MML’s internal outlets including website, ebulletin, Municipal Maryland magazine (potential audience 3,000+)

    • Acknowledgement during Maryland Municipal League conference session

Request for Qualifications (RFQ)

Applications will be reviewed and evaluated based on prior work demonstrating a mastery of the artist’s medium. Up to three finalists will be selected to meet with MML team to discuss their concept for capturing the essence of Maryland’s cities and towns.

The 2020 event will be the 36th year for this event and we are looking forward to another weekend of great art!
The show will open with the always fun Preview Party on Friday, May 15th.  On Saturday the 16th, at the close of the day, there will be music and a buffet dinner available for artists, guests, volunteers, and others from the community to enjoy.  The final day of the show will be Sunday the 17th.  There will be artist discussions and demos and also activities geared for younger artists throughout the weekend too.

“Reflections” can mean the throwing back of light, sound or images by a body or surface, an image you see when you look in a mirror, an image given back by a reflecting surface. It can also be interpreted as a careful thought about something or a thought occurring in consideration or meditation.  Artists are free to interpret “reflections” with either or both of these meanings.

GALLERY & ON-LINE GALLERY: There are two opportunities to get into this show. The juror will select works that will be exhibited in the Arc Gallery at 1246 Folsom Street and works that will be included only on the Arc On-line Gallery.

CATALOG: All artwork selected will be included in the exhibition catalog. Catalogs will be available for order at the time of notification.

ELIGIBILITY: Artists residing in the United States.

Artist Residency

Maryland Hall accepts applications for our One Year AIR Residencey on an ongoing basis. Rent is $300 for  Studio Space.  All residencies are currently full, however, we recommend that you apply to be put on a waiting list for the next jury process.

Exhibitions Call to Artists

Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts is seeking ongoing exhibition submissions from both local and regional artists for our three gallery spaces. We invite both student and professional artists to apply.

Dedicated to Art for All, Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts is the community’s arts center, providing lifelong, accessible engagement in the arts.

Maryland Hall’s goal is to present exhibits that engage audiences on many levels, from community exhibits to curated group and solo exhibits in several galleries: the Chaney Gallery, the Martino Gallery and the Openshaw Balcony Gallery. The gallery season features emerging and established artists in all media, from more accessible, traditional work, to work that questions contemporary culture, methods and ideas. The galleries are open to the public for viewing, artists’ receptions, and sales.
