Call for Entries

The Howard Hughes Corporation, in collaboration with the Howard County Arts Council, is seeking artists for the 2020 Merriweather District Artist-in-Residence (MD AIR) program Downtown Columbia, MD.  Up to four artists or teams will be selected May 18 – June 30, 2020, creating a work of art in a medium of their choosing:

Contemporary Art x Technology Artist (3 Artists):

The MD AIR program will select up to three artists who specifically produce work that integrate art, innovation and technology. The highest priority will be given to artists who work within this medium. 

Music x Technology Artist (1 Artist):

MD AIR has expanded the program in 2020 to include a new and 4th residency position that is sponsored by the Downtown Columbia Arts and Culture Commission (DCACC) and Soulful Symphony. The artist selected for this position will have studio space with the three artists, as well as, the opportunity for mentorship and collaboration with Darin Atwater, the Artist Director of DCACC and founder of Soulful Symphony.

Las Laguna Gallery invites artists to submit work for a juried exhibit to be held at our gallery space located in Laguna Beach, California. This Call for Art is open to ALL local, national and international artists, both professionals and amateurs working in the disciplines of  Acrylic, Assemblage, Airbrush, Collage, Charcoal, Color Pencil, Encaustic, Digital Art, Drawings, Fiber Art, Graphite, Illustration, Mixed Media, New Media, Oil, Painting, Pastel, Photography (Traditional and Digital), and Watercolor.

FrostburgFirst will hold a public information session for interested applicants and community members on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Frostburg City Place (14 S. Water Street) from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm. Applications will open January 27, 2020 and close on February 25, 2020 at 5:00 pm. FrostburgFirst is seeking property owners or managers who would like to have their downtown Frostburg storefronts used as locations, with the intention of developing long-term lease prospects for available retail spaces.

Artists are invited to submit original works in accordance with the theme “Mapping the World” for Enlighten Art’s First Juried Art Show. “Mapping the World” revolves around adventures, geography, explorations and vacations. Artwork could include subjects and/or content about maps, journeys to faraway lands or global explorations. The show should spark the imagination and intellect of our students, parents and visitors’ minds.

Guidelines for accepted works are as follows:

– 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional works accepted, with an exception of video and installation

-Artwork dimensions cannot exceed six feet in any dimension

– Family friendly works with contemporary influence

– 2-dimensional works must be ready to hang

Artists are invited to submit photographs of NO MORE than 3 works, identified with name of artist, medium, size, date of creation to eart@cathayfutureus.com by January 24th .

m all 2D & 3D women artists regardless of where they reside and regardless of their experience or education in the art field. A group exhibition of the top ten finalists will be held online at the Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery during the month of January 2020. Awards will be for top 10 places. 

The 2020 event will be the 36th year for this event and we are looking forward to another weekend of great art!
The show will open with the always fun Preview Party on Friday, May 15th.  On Saturday the 16th, at the close of the day, there will be music and a buffet dinner available for artists, guests, volunteers, and others from the community to enjoy.  The final day of the show will be Sunday the 17th.  There will be artist discussions and demos and also activities geared for younger artists throughout the weekend too.

ARC GALLERY: 5/16

“Reflections” can mean the throwing back of light, sound or images by a body or surface, an image you see when you look in a mirror, an image given back by a reflecting surface. It can also be interpreted as a careful thought about something or a thought occurring in consideration or meditation.  Artists are free to interpret “reflections” with either or both of these meanings.

GALLERY & ON-LINE GALLERY: There are two opportunities to get into this show. The juror will select works that will be exhibited in the Arc Gallery at 1246 Folsom Street and works that will be included only on the Arc On-line Gallery.

CATALOG: All artwork selected will be included in the exhibition catalog. Catalogs will be available for order at the time of notification.

ELIGIBILITY: Artists residing in the United States.

Artist Residency

Maryland Hall accepts applications for our One Year AIR Residencey on an ongoing basis. Rent is $300 for  Studio Space.  All residencies are currently full, however, we recommend that you apply to be put on a waiting list for the next jury process.

Exhibitions Call to Artists

Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts is seeking ongoing exhibition submissions from both local and regional artists for our three gallery spaces. We invite both student and professional artists to apply.

Dedicated to Art for All, Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts is the community’s arts center, providing lifelong, accessible engagement in the arts.

Maryland Hall’s goal is to present exhibits that engage audiences on many levels, from community exhibits to curated group and solo exhibits in several galleries: the Chaney Gallery, the Martino Gallery and the Openshaw Balcony Gallery. The gallery season features emerging and established artists in all media, from more accessible, traditional work, to work that questions contemporary culture, methods and ideas. The galleries are open to the public for viewing, artists’ receptions, and sales.
