The application process for the Creative Alliance Residency Program is open and will conclude on FRIDAY MARCH 6, 2020. Creative Alliance is accepting applications for its live/work studio Residency Program beginning in Summer 2019. This long-term program, founded in 2003, is open to artists of all media who would like to deepen their practice in a supportive, dynamic environment, and interact with colleagues who thrive in a lively cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary live/work environment.

The Insight Astronomy Photographer of the Year is an annual astronomy photography competition that is organised by the Royal Observatory, Greenwich. There are eight different categories for adult photographers (adult entrants must be aged 16 or over): • Aurorae • Galaxies • Our Moon • Our Sun • People and Space • Planets, Comets and Asteroids • Skyscapes • Stars and Nebulae. No Entry Fee.

The Adams County Arts Council invites submissions to its 17th Annual Juried Art Exhibition, May 28 – June 19, in Schmucker Art Gallery, Gettysburg College. Any person over the age of 18 is eligible to submit work for consideration by juror William Crow, PhD, Director and Professor of Practice, Lehigh University Art Galleries.

Awards total more than $3,200 with a Landscape Award and $1,000 Best of Show prize.

There is a $30 entry fee for Adams County Arts Council members and a $45 entry fee for non-members. The exhibition is held in partnership with Schmucker Art Gallery. FOLKLIFE APPRENTICESHIPS: 03/07

The Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC) is seeking panelists to review Folklife Apprenticeship applications for the 2021 fiscal year. Folklife Apprenticeships fund the teaching of skills from a master to a learner artist in folklife or living cultural traditions. Apprenticeship panelists are selected with a focus on the diversity of experiences, location, and expertise in folklife. Regardless of your connection to the arts, we encourage you to apply. Panelists must be Maryland residents.

The New York Center for Photographic Art (NYC4PA) invites photographers world-wide to submit images using any photographic process (print, image transfer, emulsion transfer, encaustic, black and white, color etc.). NYC4PA invites photographers working in all mediums, styles and schools of thought to participate and experimental and mixed techniques are welcome. Only 2-D work is eligible. The entry fee is $35 for the first three images. Additional images may be submitted for $10 each. There is no limit to the number of images submitted.

Camelback Gallery calls for entries for international online juried painting competition and exhibition “Shades of Green” from all artists 18 years and older. The deadline is March 8th, 2020.

Entry fee $18 for 2 paintings

All submitted work must have been created by the artist within the last 3 years. Artwork must be a painting using any of the following media: Oil, Acrylic, Pastels, Watercolor and/or Mixed Media.

Artwork must be a painting in which the prominent color is green.

Any subject matter  & painting style allowed. (examples: abstracts, landscapes, water, plants, nature, food)

Library Gallery Solo Exhibition Competition

Montpelier Arts Center is holding a competition for exhibitions that will be held in the Library Gallery, September 2020 – August 2021.  To be eligible, artists must be 18 years and older and reside in Maryland. Previous winners from 2015 to the present are ineligible.  The juror may elect to exhibit artists who apply for solo shows or artists who apply as groups.

An honorarium of $300 will be presented for each exhibition to the artist(s) exhibition (i.e. groups would share the $300 honorarium).  The Montpelier Arts Center staff will handle all promotion and installation, as well as the reception. Please note, the Arts Center retains a 25% commission on sales of works sold during the exhibition.

A group exhibition of the top ten finalists will be held online at the Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery during the month of January 2020. Awards will be for the top 10 places. 

The 2020 event will be the 36th year for this event and we are looking forward to another weekend of great art!
The show will open with the always fun Preview Party on Friday, May 15th.  On Saturday the 16th, at the close of the day, there will be music and a buffet dinner available for artists, guests, volunteers, and others from the community to enjoy.  The final day of the show will be Sunday the 17th.  There will be artist discussions and demos and also activities geared for younger artists throughout the weekend too.

ARC GALLERY: 5/16

“Reflections” can mean the throwing back of the light, sound or images by a body or surface, an image you see when you look in a mirror, an image given back by a reflecting surface. It can also be interpreted as careful thought about something or a thought occurring in consideration or meditation.  Artists are free to interpret “reflections” with either or both of these meanings.

GALLERY & ON-LINE GALLERY: There are two opportunities to get into this show. The juror will select works that will be exhibited in the Arc Gallery at 1246 Folsom Street and works that will be included only on the Arc On-line Gallery.

CATALOG: All artwork selected will be included in the exhibition catalog. Catalogs will be available for order at the time of notification.

Artist Residency

Maryland Hall accepts applications for our One Year AIR Residencey on an ongoing basis. Rent is $300 for  Studio Space.  All residencies are currently full, however, we recommend that you apply to be put on a waiting list for the next jury process.

Exhibitions Call to Artists

Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts is seeking ongoing exhibition submissions from both local and regional artists for our three gallery spaces. We invite both student and professional artists to apply.

Dedicated to Art for All, Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts is the community’s arts center, providing lifelong, accessible engagement in the arts.

Maryland Hall’s goal is to present exhibits that engage audiences on many levels, from community exhibits to curated group and solo exhibits in several galleries: the Chaney Gallery, the Martino Gallery and the Openshaw Balcony Gallery. The gallery season features emerging and established artists in all media, from more accessible, traditional work, to work that questions contemporary culture, methods and ideas. The galleries are open to the public for viewing, artists’ receptions, and sales.
