Call for Entries

The Baltimore County Arts Guild is seeking artists to take part in the 2-day juried Arts & Drafts Festival. This inaugural event will be held June 13 and 14, 2020 on the grounds of the historic Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Halethorpe, Maryland. 100 Artist booths are available for this event which will attract 10,000 visitors over the course of the weekend. The event includes regional music, art demonstrations, VIP events, free shuttles from the Halethorpe MARC and Amtrak station and much more. The event launches with a reveal of the special beer brewed by Guinness for this Arts & Drafts event.

East County Art Association is proud to announce their partnerships with Marriott Courtyard Hotel of El Cajon for their 2nd year Annual Art Expo. Artwork is needed to showcase a one day art expo at the Marriott Courtyard Hotel. Marriott Courtyard Hotel of El Cajon encourages entries from all artists regardless of their experience, or education, in the art field. This is an international competition and is open to all artists and all types of 2-D media are accepted.

There is a $20 entry fee per image but there is no limit.

Artsfest is an annual juried arts festival held at beautiful Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center, in Solomons, Maryland, where the Patuxent River meets the Chesapeake Bay (Solomons is about an hour drive from the Baltimore-Washington metro area). Recognized as one of the top outdoor arts festivals in the Mid-Atlantic region, Artsfest brings together 170 of the country’s most accomplished artists for a weekend of terrific shopping, great music, and delicious food and drink.

Artsfest also features more than 30 bands and entertainment acts performing on four stages, as well as family activities and programs under the Discovery Tent and in the Zany Zone. The beauty of Annmarie Garden is the perfect backdrop for this annual celebration of the arts! Artsfest enjoys dedicated crowds and excellent management – with terrific volunteer support. The MSAC‘s Artist in Residence (AiR) program provides grants to Maryland schools that cover half the cost of a teaching artist residency in a particular school. Maryland schools are invited to browse the below Artist in Residence Roster to select an MSAC Artist-in-Residence. The school then applies for a grant from the MSAC that covers half the cost of the residency. The artists on this roster specialize in harnessing the arts as tools for learning and are available to lead hands-on, intensive arts workshops in Maryland schools.

No paper copies of the application contained in the guidelines will be accepted. Applications must completed online through eGrant with an electronic signature. Please read thoroughly. Applications that do not meet the requirements will not be accepted.

Through the Artist in Residence Program, grantees receive 50 percent off artist fees for multi-session arts residencies. Nonprofits and units of government (public schools, libraries, parks and recreation centers, etc.) are eligible for funding.

VisArts invites artists working in all media to apply for 2021 Solo Exhibitions in the Gibbs Street Gallery, Common Ground Gallery, and Concourse Gallery.

Exhibitions in each of the galleries explore the breadth of contemporary art featuring emerging to mid-career artists. Exhibits reflect a wide range of media and experimental approaches that offer the viewer unexpected interactions with art.

The Gibbs Street Gallery is approximately 1,100 square feet with 16 ft. ceilings. It is on the street level with floor to ceiling windows along one wall. International, national and local artists are welcome to apply.

The Common Ground Gallery is located on the second floor and is approximately 300 square feet. Artists must live in the Mid-Atlantic region to apply for a solo exhibition in this gallery.

The Concourse Gallery is located on the second floor and is approximately 500 square feet.  It has curved windows along one wall. International, national, and local artists are welcome to apply.

Applicants who have participated in a solo exhibition at VisArts within the past two years are not eligible to apply.

The Howard County Arts Council is seeking artists to take part in the juried portion of Paint It! Ellicott City 2020. The annual plein air paint-out will be held June 25-29 in picturesque and historic Ellicott City, Maryland, with a minimum of $1,000 in total awards given to participating artists.

Both juried and Open Paint artists set up their easels around the historic district, enjoying a summer weekend as they capture the picturesque mill town and all its charms.

The event will culminate in a gallery exhibit at the Howard County Center for the Arts from June 29 – August 14. Juror: TBA.

AnnMarie sculpture garden & art center calls for entries for a national juried exhibition – Bloom & Grow: Brilliant Botanicals.

Bloom & Grow is a lush, colorful, and wide-ranging celebration of floral and botanical art. From biblical depictions of the Garden of Eden, to the plein air art of the Impressionists, to the bold stylized motifs in pop culture, depictions of flowers are plentiful throughout art history and visual culture. Bloom & Grow seeks works that continue these traditions, as well as works that push beyond to explore the symbolic, the emotional, the environmental, and the personal connections we have with flowers, plants, and all things that grow outdoors. Outdoor installations and multi-sensory works are encouraged. All media welcome; small to large-scale works; indoor and outdoor works; cash awards will be awarded.

mall 2D & 3D women artists regardless of where they reside and regardless of their experience or education in the art field. A group exhibition of the top ten finalists will be held online at the Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery during the month of January 2020. Awards will be for the top 10 places. 

The 2020 event will be the 36th year for this event and we are looking forward to another weekend of great art!
The show will open with the always fun Preview Party on Friday, May 15th.  On Saturday the 16th, at the close of the day, there will be music and a buffet dinner available for artists, guests, volunteers, and others from the community to enjoy.  The final day of the show will be Sunday the 17th.  There will be artist discussions and demos and also activities geared for younger artists throughout the weekend too.

ARC GALLERY: 5/16

“Reflections” can mean the throwing back of the light, sound or images by a body or surface, an image you see when you look in a mirror, an image given back by a reflecting surface. It can also be interpreted as careful thought about something or a thought occurring in consideration or meditation.  Artists are free to interpret “reflections” with either or both of these meanings.

Artist Residency

Maryland Hall accepts applications for our One Year AIR Residencey on an ongoing basis. Rent is $300 for  Studio Space.  All residencies are currently full, however, we recommend that you apply to be put on a waiting list for the next jury process.

Exhibitions Call to Artists

Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts is seeking ongoing exhibition submissions from both local and regional artists for our three gallery spaces. We invite both student and professional artists to apply.

Dedicated to Art for All, Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts is the community’s arts center, providing lifelong, accessible engagement in the arts.

Maryland Hall’s goal is to present exhibits that engage audiences on many levels, from community exhibits to curated group and solo exhibits in several galleries: the Chaney Gallery, the Martino Gallery and the Openshaw Balcony Gallery. The gallery season features emerging and established artists in all media, from more accessible, traditional work, to work that questions contemporary culture, methods and ideas. The galleries are open to the public for viewing, artists’ receptions, and sales.
