CONTEMPORARY ART GALLERY ONLINE: 2020 ALL COLOR

Contemporary Art Gallery Online encourages entries from all 2D and 3D artists regardless of their experience, education in the art field, or where they may reside. This is an international competition and everyone is encouraged to participate. A group exhibition of all entrants will be held online at the Contemporary Art Gallery Online following the close of the competition for thirty days.

Artists should submit their best representational or non-representational art related to the “ALL Color” theme. The “ALL Color” theme is an open subject competition with a concentration on color. One color or a multitude of color in a work meets the criteria of this competition. Here is a link to last year’s exhibition, so as to better demonstrate this month’s theme.

This competition will be judged within three categories; Paintings, Photography, and Mixed Media and 3D work.

THE PHILLIPS COLLECTION: COMMUNITY IN FOCUS – RESPONDING TO THE YEAR 2020

GALLERY UNDERGROUND: DREAMS AND NIGHTMARES NATIONAL JURIED EXHIBITION

CALL FOR ARTISTS

OCA MOCHA (ARBUTUS, MD)

OCA Mocha is accepting submissions of art – any hangable medium – that addresses social issues for which you are an advocate or activist. To be considered, submit contact information: name, phone, email, website, Instagram (if applicable); images of artwork to be considered; information about each artwork: title, framed dimensions, medium, date created, short description (if applicable); and send to the attention of art coordinator Madeline Arbutus at m166@umbc.edu with “Advocacy Through Art” as the subject line.

HOWARD COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL

Deadline: January 1, 2021

Submit our General Exhibit application today! Artists, ages 18 and older, working in all media and styles including time-based and installation artists, are encouraged to apply either individually or as a group. We also welcome proposals from curators and arts organizations.

The Arts Council manages two galleries at the Howard County Center for the Arts, with over 2100 square feet of exhibit space. Our gallery program was established to enhance the public’s appreciation of the visual arts, provide a venue to exhibit the work or local, regional, and national artists in a professional space, and provide leadership in the arts by presenting a broad spectrum of arts in all media from both emerging and established artists.

EXHIBIT AT HOTEL INDIGO (BALTIMORE)

Maryland Art Place (MAP), in partnership with Hotel Indigo is pleased to announce an open ‘Call to Artists’. As an extension of MAP’s annual IMPACT public art partnership projects, MAP is working with Hotel Indigo to offer rotating exhibitions in Hotel indigo’s library and Poets Modern Cocktails and Eats. This opportunity is available to visual artists living or working in Maryland. Maryland Art Place will curate four exhibitions a year based on submissions entered through a rolling basis.

General Guidelines and Information:

  • MAP only accepts 2-D works: photography, painting, mixed media or similar welcomed.
  • All works must be no larger than 60 X 60 in.
  • Artist agrees that Maryland Art Place/Hotel Indigo may use images of the artwork for press and promotional purposes related to IMPACT.
  • You may apply as an individual artist, or for an artist group on your behalf.
  • Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year.

EXHIBIT AT HOTEL INDIGO (VA)

Artists works will displayed in the hotel’s gallery (220 S Union St, Old Town Alexandria) for a six-month period. Two-dimensional, framed works only. Artists will install the work using the hotel’s mounting hardware. Labels will be provided by the hotel. All sales handled by artist, no commission. Preference for local or locally influenced selections but not required. The space measures approximately 7’10” by 8’3.″ If interested, contact Kate Ellis, General Manager, kate.ellis@ihg.com.

MARYLAND HALL

Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts is seeking ongoing exhibition submissions from both local and regional artists for our three gallery spaces. We invite both student and professional artists to apply.

Dedicated to Art for All, Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts is the community’s arts center, providing lifelong, accessible engagement in the arts.

Maryland Hall’s goal is to present exhibits that engage audiences on many levels, from community exhibits to curated group and solo exhibits in several galleries: the Chaney Gallery, the Martino Gallery and the Openshaw Balcony Gallery. The gallery season features emerging and established artists in all media, from more accessible, traditional work, to work that questions contemporary culture, methods and ideas. The galleries are open to the public for viewing, artists’ receptions, and sales.

GRANTS

ARTS COUNCIL OF ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY INDEPENDENT ARTIST COVID RELIEF GRANTS

Deadline: November 30, 2020 at 5 PM

The arts are an important economic driver within Anne Arundel County, one that has been disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Because artists are not categorized as essential employees, both individual artists and businesses that employ artists have been severely affected. To support and stabilize the County’s arts community, including individuals, businesses, and arts related organizations, Anne Arundel County will provide economic relief due to the loss of income due to COVID-19 through the COVID Relief Grants for the Arts Program (GAP). The GAP will be administrated through the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County (ACAAC).

The GAP Independent Artists program will offer grants of up to $2,500 for Anne Arundel County independent, professional artists to compensate for financial losses sustained due to COVID-19, including, but not limited to closures and cancellations of: workshops and classes, exhibitions and festivals, performances, artist residencies, touring, and supplemental income.

THE CREATIVITY GRANT PROGRAM STATE OF MARYLAND

Deadline: Rolling

The purpose of the Creativity Grant Program is to strengthen the vitality and sustainability of artists and small organizations to maintain a strong and stable arts infrastructure in the State of Maryland. The Creativity Grant also provides opportunities to serve the growing needs of relevant arts projects and collaborations within Maryland communities. For more information regarding eligibility and funding timelines, please review the Creativity Grants Guidelines. It is vital to support writers in times of need so that they can get back to doing what they do best. The Dramatist Guild Foundation provides emergency financial assistance to individual playwrights, composers, lyricists, and book writers in dire need of funds due to severe hardship or unexpected illness.

DGF Emergency Grants regularly support costs associated with healthcare, childcare, housing, disability, natural disaster relief, and other unforeseen circumstances. DGF does not support requests related to production expenses or taxes, nor requests from individuals not actively seeking employment if they are able to work. Requests typically range between $500-$3,000. Please be advised that DGF does not support all requests.

Maryland Hall accepts applications for our One Year AIR Residency on an ongoing basis. Rent is $300 for Studio Space. All residencies are currently full, however, we recommend that you apply to be put on a waiting list for the next jury process.

Long-term studio spaces can accommodate artists residing in the Annapolis/Anne Arundel County region.
