“The struggle of searching for that elusive balance between observation, perceptive mood, and design keeps me engaged and challenged.”

– Fred Jackson

Fred is an oil painter who draws the majority of his inspiration from the moods he feels that natural and cultural landscapes evoke. He cites his application of paint and compositions as a response to his perception of a place and to what he finds interesting.

“Paintings which do not make muster provide me with warmth and light in my campfires.

– Fred Jackson

Fred often finds success within the process of painting, citing that the paintings which he has battled the hardest, destroyed, and resurrected are those that become the most interesting.

I prefer to work intuitively and improvisational with no predetermined result in mind.   I seek to express in paint the rich nuances and energy that a place presents within this moment in time.

In 2021, Fred won first place in the Best State Park, Hudson Valley Plein Air show. Additionally, he has an extensive list of awards and entries into shows.
