Paint Annapolis is on the way! Learn more about the juried artists and get yourself ready for this historic Plein air painting festival. 

We’re excited to welcome Amanda Milliner from Severn, Maryland as a juried artist for Paint Annapolis 2023! Amanda is a fine artist who uses a variety of different media and paints in a representational style.

Amanda studied both classical and high renaissance art history on location in Florence, Italy at Studio Art Centers International, and earned her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She has now been showing her work publically for 20 years!

She is well known for her use of vibrant colors and all prima painting technique. Currently, she is playing around and investigating light and dark balance in her newer work. She also explores various subjects like landscapes, still life, and figure.

When it comes to Amanda’s plein air technique she uses small sketches and keeps her color palette limited. She paints on location and will sometimes return to the location to complete her larger paintings.

Amanda enjoys the challenge as a representational painter of putting together and creating a cohesive painting, working from one decision to the next. She is fascinated by comparing color values and how she can preserve the moment with those colors.

As well as being an active member of her artists’ collective Artists’ Gallery in Ellicott City, MD, she also teaches adult art classes at The Columbia Art Center and Howard County Center for the Arts. Amanda is an active competitor in plein art competitions and has won numerous awards and honors.
