We’re excited to welcome Nancy Fine from Hampstead, Maryland as a juried artist for Paint Annapolis 2023! Nancy is a long-time resident of Northern Baltimore County and here she has found most of her inspiration over the years for her plein air paintings.

“Mystery of Many Ponds”, oil, Nancy Fine, 16″ x 12″

Nancy’s preferred medium is oils on linen boards. Her interest in plein air painting has evolved over the past seven years, transitioning from the detail of realism to plein air providing the perfect vehicle for expressing her love of the outdoors and awareness of nature.

“Forest Snow Water”, oil, Nancy K. Fine, 11″ x 14″

As a plein air painter, Nancy is more than fortunate to have the 24,000-acre Pretty Boy Watershed in her backyard where she enjoys disappearing for hours with her easel, backpack, and of course her dog Luna.

“Tappanock Cottage”, oil, Nancy K. Fine, 16″ x 20″

While in her backyard, Nancy will paint a beaver pond, a strand of trees in the winter, or even a rushing stream in the spring. Her work is successful because of her interpretation of the ever-changing natural surroundings, her use of lush colors, and the freedom of brushwork and pallet knife.

“Golden Marshes”, oil, by Nancy Fine, 20″ x 20″

Nancy says that from time to time there may be a passerby who may observe her doing art and want to buy her paintings!

“Seafood Packing – Vacant-Abandoned”, oil, by Nancy Fine, 20″ x 16″
