We’re excited to present the 30 juried artists for Paint Annapolis 2017! Come see them paint June 4th-11th around Annapolis and the greater Anne Arundel County area.
Born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the UK, Tony completed a fine art degree there before moving to Ireland in 1980 working for a time as a mural painter and sign writer. Tony worked for the Wexford Arts Centre for four years as a visual artist on community projects and later opened an artist materials and framing store.
“I paint portrait, figure, still-life and landscape and always prefer to paint from life. Painting landscape outdoors can be difficult and frustrating but it is something I’m passionate about. I like to mix it up and experiment and approach each painting with an open mind.”
In 2008, a growing interest in Plein air painting led Tony and some fellow artists in Wexford to develop Ireland’s outdoor painting festival, Art in the Open. This week-long festival has become Ireland’s major annual outdoor painting event, attracting an international following. Tony has made painting trips to several of Europe’s favorite painting locations.
