MFA Member Gayle Mangan Kassal
The BWI art gallery features works by artists from around the region; Maryland First Lady Yumi Hogan chaired the jury panel that selected the various artworks. I am very honored my work titled River Dance was selected. This pastel painting which is 39″ x 89”, was enlarged to 8 feet square. Located in Gallery D, between the D and E terminals, it is behind security. It is now up and will be hanging from July until December, then again on a rotating schedule with other works.

MFA Member Lee Goodwin
The BlackRock Center for the Arts has asked Goodwin to provide a photo for an exhibit celebrating the Center’s 15th anniversary. The photo they requested is Lock 7 in Fog, which is one of Goodwin’s favorites, but one that they rarely have an opportunity to show any more. It is a traditional gelatin silver darkroom print of a photo taken along the C&O Canal with a Mamiya 7 medium format camera, which was their main camera for years until they went digital. The exhibit will run from September 8 to October 12 at the BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown, MD. The BlackRock Center is a beautiful venue, and Goodwin had one of their first exhibits there in 2009 (Lock 7 was included in that exhibit). You can read Claudia Rousseau’s very kind review of that exhibit here: http://www.gazette.net/stories/05132009/entemon124147_32523.shtml
