We’re excited to welcome Kirk Larsen from Hicksville, New York as a juried artist for Paint Annapolis 2022! Kirk has always been an artist – he’s been drawing his whole life, and painting in oils since age seven – and he’s never met a medium he didn’t like.
Kirk works in all mediums, from oil painting “en plein air” to all genres of studio work, live music and event paintings, and all forms of sculpture. He has won over 170 awards in various media, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, drawing, colored pencil, mixed media, pen and ink, photography, and sculpture.
Kirk has had over 63 solo shows and a multitude of juried art shows. His work is in both museum and private collections across the United States, and in England, Ireland, Russia, Germany, Netherlands, Estonia, China, and Curacao. He is a signature member of the Oil Painters of America, and a member of the Salmagundi Club NYC, American Society of Marine Artists, the American Impressionist Society, Mid Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association, and New York State Plein Air Painters.
Kirk is an avid sailor. Classic, modern, and one-design yacht racing have fueled his inspiration for nautical and maritime artworks. He has been featured in many nautically themed exhibitions, including one at the Mystic Seaport Museum of America.
In addition to sailing and painting, Kirk is a former Professor at the Parsons New School and associate of The School of Fashion Design, a SAG-AFTRA film and television actor, mentor and motivational speaker, musician, cook, and writer. Learn more about Kirk and his many skills on his website here.
